My Pet Flamingo introduces little ones to the power and boundaries of friendship between a girl and a flamingo. Written in both English and Spanish, this book is filled with whimsical words that include dancing, swimming, and baking. Mariana explains that the idea came to her after her daughter, Victoria, inquired whether she could have a pet flamingo. One simple illustration posted on Instagram, later became Mariana’s muse for creating this beautiful story.

After years in the corporate world, Mariana dove into her past to reimagine herself as an illustrator. She says that her mother’s creative mind, DIY creations, were embedded into her life at a young age. Soon after, her creative career took off and now this is her third book with Lil’ Libros! Mariana’s parting words are “We are capable of our wildest dreams, and anyone can change their career no matter what age.”
